Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science (MBITS) has outlined the eligibility criteria for its B.Tech MBITS Admission 2025-26 for students seeking regular merit (government quota) seats. The process, managed by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, requires candidates to meet specific academic and entrance exam standards. This guide provides a detailed breakdown of the requirements to help prospective students navigate the application process effectively.

Primary Eligibility and Entrance Examination

To be considered for regular merit (government quota) seats at MBITS, applicants must meet a two-pronged eligibility requirement: academic qualification and performance in the state-level entrance examination. According to the official MBITS brochure for the 2025-26 academic year, a candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala, or an equivalent exam. They must secure a minimum of 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry combined. This requirement is in line with the regulations set by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The second critical criterion is a valid score in the Kerala Engineering, Architecture, and Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM), conducted by the CEE. The merit list for government quota seats is prepared based solely on the ranks obtained in the KEAM entrance exam. Students who have not qualified in the KEAM are not eligible for these seats.

MBITS Admission 2025-26: Reservation and Concessionary Marks

The government quota system provides for various reservations and relaxations, which are handled directly by the CEE. Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) may be eligible for a relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks. For instance, SC/ST candidates are often granted a reduction in the required aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

“The CEE is the sole authority for the allotment of government seats, and all reservation policies will be strictly implemented as per state government rules,” said a senior official from the institution’s admissions office, speaking on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly. The official emphasized that all claims for reservation or concession must be supported by valid certificates issued by the relevant revenue authorities.

Application and Counselling Process

The application process for government quota seats is distinct from the management quota. Aspiring students must apply through the official CEE portal, not directly to MBITS. The allotment of seats is done through a centralized counselling process managed by the CEE based on the KEAM rank list. This centralized system ensures transparency and fairness.

Following the CEE’s allotment, candidates must report to MBITS with their original documents for verification. The required documents include the CEE allotment memo, KEAM admit card and datasheet, and mark sheets of the qualifying examination. A medical fitness certificate and a character certificate from the last attended institution are also mandatory. Failure to produce these documents in their original form can result in the cancellation of the allotted seat.

Key Dates and Official Channels

Prospective students are advised to closely monitor the official websites of the CEE and MBITS for key dates, including the start of online registration, rank list publication, and counselling schedule. As per a notice on the official website, “The online application for B.Tech admissions for the 2025-26 academic year is now open.
